Report: One club has already approached Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes about a transfer this summer

Newcastle United may face a battle to keep a hold of Bruno Guimaraes this summer.

The midfielder has constantly said he’s happy at Newcastle and his recent reported purchase of a £4m home in the area may suggest he has plans to stay there.

Still, there is believed to be interest in his services.

Indeed, it was claimed earlier this month that there was a begrudging acceptance at St James’ Park that Guimaraes may have to move on as the club look to raise money to get onto the right side of the Premier League’s PSR rules.

Paris Saint-Germain are understood be keen on a move for the 26-year-old, albeit Newcastle haven’t yet given up hope on keeping him for at least another season.

Such is the level of interest in the player, however, that PSG aren’t alone in their admiration of him.

In fact, one closer to home have reportedly already made a move.

According to 90 Min, Manchester City have already approached the midfielder’s representatives about the prospect of a move.

City are said to want a player to compliment Rodri and view Guimaraes as that, though could potentially still move for West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta.

Given there is believed to be a £100m release clause in his contract, Newcastle would be powerless to stop a team from at least speaking to Guimaraes should they pay that money.

Pep Guardiola has already said what he thinks about Bruno Guimaraes’ future at Newcastle

City boss Pep Guardiola has already spoken in glowing terms about Guimaraes, hailing him as “an exceptional holding midfielder”.

Still, Guardiola did also claim he could not see Guimaraes leaving Newcastle any time soon, such is his importance to the cause on Tyneside.

“I’m sure he’s part of the project for the next years,” he said last month.
