'Poor day at the office': Alan Shearer not impressed with Chelsea player who delivered '3/10' display today

Chelsea have been knocked out of the FA Cup at the semi-final stage after falling to a 1-0 loss to Manchester City on Saturday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues reached the Carabao Cup final this season and were hoping to go one better in the FA Cup.

However, Chelsea once again fell short as Manchester City punished their opponents’ wastefulness in the final third.

The Citizens’ winner came in the 84th minute, Jeremy Doku slipping the ball through to Kevin de Bruyne, who then pulled the ball back.

Although Chelsea keeper Djordje Petrovic got a foot onto it, the ball landed to Bernardo Silva, who duly slotted into the net past a defender on the line.

The Blues will be left to rue a number of spurned opportunities, with Nicolas Jackson sadly delivering yet another poor display in front of goal.

What has been said about Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson?

Goal.com gave the 22-year-old a 3 out of 10 rating for his performance on the day.

They wrote: ‘So tame with his finishing as he wasted numerous chances.

‘A huge opportunity in the first half saw him cut back inside and fail to get a shot away, and then he squandered two more at the start of the second period.

‘Just looked uncomfortable every time he got on the ball.’

BBC Sport pundit Alan Shearer had a similar opinion, telling BBC One after the match that it was “a poor day at the office for Nicolas Jackson.”

Shearer continued: “Mauricio Pochettino feels Chelsea should be about fourth on expected goals and this is exactly what he’s on about.

“Jackson never looked comfortable. They are absolute sitters, they really are. Three great chances for him.”

Jackson is having a nightmare of a maiden season at Stamford Bridge. Let’s hope things get better next season and things finally start clicking for him.
