One of Oklahoma‘s top additions via the transfer portal is having a big day in the team’s annual spring game, with receiver Deion Burks proving to be an excellent target for quarterback Jackson Arnold.
The Sooners are hoping that duo can produce sparks in the fall, as well, following the departure of former starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel through the portal.
So far, so good.
Burks helped open the scoring during the spring game when he wiggled free on a route up the seam. Arnold was waiting on him and hit him in stride for a 64-yard touchdown.

The duo also hooked up on another big completion shortly after the touchdown pass, but Oklahoma was not keeping official stats for the game.
In any case, the Purdue transfer is picking up right where he left off. Burks had a breakout season in 2023 when he caught 47 passes for 629 yards and seven touchdowns.
It’s also possible that Oklahoma could experiment with using Deion Burks and his speed out of the backfield going forward. He logged seven carries for 19 yards while with the Boilermakers.
