Blake Shelton Explains How Being a Stepdad ‘Changed Him’

We have all enjoyed watching Blake Shelton living his best “stepdad life” on the farm with his rockstar royalty stepchildren, and it seems this new life with the kids has changed him for the better.

“I get to teach them the country, you know, and I love that,” he said. “Whether it’s music, whether it’s literally getting out, getting their hands in the dirt or being out on the ranch, seeing the animals, whatever, you know? I absolutely love being the person that gets to introduce them to that stuff,” the “Ole Red” singer told People.

Even though the kids seem to be adapting and enjoying country life, he seems to be the one that has changed the most.

“I learned quickly, not because anything happened, but just, you know, reading the room, you’ve really got, I have to take a step back,” the Shelton said when talking about the change fatherhood has brought.

“When people say it’s not about you anymore when you have a kid…I think if you’re doing it right, it’s not about you anymore. That’s true,” he admitted.

Blake is a stepdad to Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale’s three sons named Kingston, Zuma and Apollo. Gwen has posted lots of social media clips of them having fun on the farm with Blake.

The couple has also had success with multiple hit songs together including, “Happy Anywhere”, “Purple Irises” and many others.
