'I fell in love with Tottenham': £25m star says Spurs are his club after claims Ange Postecoglou wants him

A player who has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur has just expressed his love for the club.

Spurs have done a very good job with their recruitment since Fabio Paratici has been involved with the club, haven’t they?

It’s been a while since the likes of Cristian Romero, Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur came in, while Micky van de Ven, James Maddison and Brennan Johnson are all proving to be excellent additions this season as well.

Tottenham have invested in hugely talented young players too like Ashley Phillips, Luka Vuskovic and Lucas Bergvall, which shows they are keeping an eye on the future.

Another talented young player has been on Tottenham‘s radar for a while now, and he has publicly expressed his love for Spurs.

Tottenham target Alex Scott makes honest admission about Spurs

Tottenham have been a brilliant side to watch since Ange Postecoglou took charge of the club.

Gone are the days when Spurs bored the life out of you with negative football. They are now one of the most exciting clubs in the Premier League.

That makes Tottenham a very attractive club to players, and the likes of James Maddison agreeing to join them shows exactly that.

One player who has always been a Spurs fan, during good times and bad, is Alex Scott.

The 20-year-old, who was heavily linked with Tottenham last summer, joined Bournemouth in a £25 million deal in August (Guardian).

Alasdair Gold revealed just a few months ago that Postecoglou’s side are still keeping an eye on Scott and will do so for years to come because he is such a big talent.

Now, the youngster, as he has done previously, has once again expressed his love for the North London club.

When asked why he’s a Tottenham fan, Scott said on AwayDays: “My dad, big Spurs fan. So I think that’s just where it comes from, no other reason really, literally just my dad. And then I fell in love with Tottenham as a kid. So yeah, they’re my club!”

Speaking about playing against Spurs, he said: “Yeah, I scored my first Premier League goal at Tottenham. That was crazy.

“I was on the bench as well, I was a bit disappointed I didn’t start. I then came on, scored my first goal and then scored another as well but that got disallowed.

“I think it was just the perfect place to score my first-ever goal.”

The real reason why Tottenham did not sign Alex Scott

Alex Scott was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham for months before last summer’s transfer window opened.

The North Londoners were on the market for a new midfielder, and everyone felt Scott would’ve been a great option to have in the squad.

However, Spurs backed out in the end, and journalist Dean Jones revealed the reason behind that decision at the time.

The journalist suggested that all the big clubs were put off by Scott’s £25 million price tag because they realised “he probably won’t be impacting their starting XI” immediately.

Bournemouth were ready to sign him and give him more game time than Tottenham could’ve, and that’s why they got him in the end.

Scott’s love for Tottenham has been made public on plenty of occasions, so it won’t be a surprise at all if he ends up in North London at some point in the future.
