Sunderland fans all say the same thing about Mike Dodds after defeat vs Millwall

Sunderland fans had plenty to say on social media after the 1-0 defeat at home to Millwall on Saturday.

Sunderland welcomed Millwall to the Stadium of Light on Saturday, where the Lions earned the win needed to keep themselves in the Championship for another year.

But for the Black Cats, it was yet another forgettable outing in the Championship this season.

Mike Dodds’ side looked like they had turned a corner in the last few games, going into the game against Millwall in the back of a 1-0 win at West Brom last time out.

But Sunderland were lacklustre all over the pitch on Saturday, with defender Aji Alese perhaps the standout performer.

Dodds, 37, is now in his third spell as Sunderland interim boss, landing the job until the summer after Michael Beale was sacked in February.

And Dodds has now overseen 11 games since replacing Beale, though he has just two wins and three draws to his name, with the 1-0 defeat vs Millwall being his sixth.

The Black Cats remain in 13th place of the table and fans are fearing for the summer ahead and next season.

Whilst Kristjaan Speakman continues to come under the spotlight for Sunderland’s poor recruitment and planning, Dodds is now a man under fire, with the performance against Millwall being a very tired one.

Fans are criticising Dodds’ decision to play with a back-five at home, and also the lack of energy and motive in what was a rather tame performance.

Dodds even said himself that he was ‘bored’ watching his side against Millwall.
