'That is nonsense': Jamie Carragher stunned by what Nottingham Forest have just done

Nottingham Forest have released a damning statement and now Jamie Carragher has delivered his verdict on the decision made by the Reds.

Forest need to get themselves sorted and their Premier League status must now come under serious scrutiny.

The Reds were beaten 2-0 at Goodison Park by Everton – on a day when Forest could have had no fewer than four penalties.

Three of them should have been given, with Gio Reyna fouled by Ashley Young and then the same player handling just before half-time.

After the break, the same offender, Young, decided to clatter straight through the back ofCallum Hudson-Odoi but again nothing was given.

The fourth one would have perhaps been harsh but the ball did clearly strike James Tarkowski on his arm which was in a natural position.

After the game, Forest released a pretty damning statement and explained that they will now be considering their options.

Now, Carragher has reacted to the update posted by Forest on their official channels.

Jamie Carragher delivers verdict on Nottingham Forest statement

Well, it would appear as though the Sky Sports pundit isn’t a fan of the post that has been made public by the football club.

Carragher has slammed Forest for their choice of wording on the official statement that slams VAR Stuart Attwell.

He said live on Sky Sports: “It tells you where we are with the Premier League now, the clubs and Stuart Attwell and Anthony Taylor had a horrific day today, awful and rightly they should be criticised for that.

“There could be real implications for Nottingham Forest, I get the frustration, but that, what I’ve just read on social media, that’s like a fan in the pub.

“That is embarrassing from Nottingham Forest. I get the frustration, rubbish – the VAR is a Luton fan. You can’t get involved in that. You have to show class in a football club.

“I do get the frustration. The officials had an awful day, terrible, but you can’t get involved in that. That is nonsense.”

Forest incensed and they’ve every right to be after VAR scandal

Evangelos Marinakis isn’t backwards in coming forwards and this is another day that will leave him absolutely raging.

Forest were completely robbed of three – maybe four – penalties at Goodison Park and it quite simply is getting laughable.

The Reds need to focus on getting their own house in order but the club do have a right to feel really aggrieved today.

Forest have perhaps been a little bit over the top when it comes to naming Attwell as a Luton fan but they are making a good point.

If Forest expressed a concern over the appointment of Attwell, it seems strange that he wasn’t changed.

David Coote and Steve Meredith are two Nottinghamshire-based match officials operating in the Premier League – can we expect those guys to be on Forest matches in the future? Probably not.

Forest are now in a perilous position and this statement made today is unlikely to sit well with the powers that be at the Premier League and the PGMOL.
