Sean Dyche responds to furious Nottingham Forest statement after Everton's 2-0 win today

Everton boss Sean Dyche has responded to Nottingham Forest’s furious statement after VAR controversy took centre stage once again on Sunday.

The Toffees secured a huge three points thanks to goals from Dwight McNeil and Idrissa Gana Gueye, however, the Goodison Park clash wasn’t short of drama.

Forest felt aggrieved to see three penalty claims turned down by the on-field official and VAR. It took the City Ground club just moments to release an official statement after the final whistle.

The statement read: “Three extremely poor decisions – three penalties not given – which we simply cannot accept. “We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn’t change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times. NFFC will now consider its options.”

Sean Dyche shares thoughts on Nottingham Forest VAR statement

Speaking in his post-match press conference, the Everton boss claimed his side have also had several decisions go against them this season.

“We’ve had our moments. We’ve had two penalties this season which is alarmingly low for the amount we should’ve had,” he explained.

“There’s frustration around VAR from everyone this season. We’ve had our moments. I didn’t know that; it’s up to them. I can’t control what they do or think.

“Over the season so far, I don’t think we’ve had our fair share of penalties. I can only look at what we’re doing and what we are hoping to get. Hopefully, who knows, there might be some twists for us as the season comes to an end.”

Nottingham Forest are only embarrassing themselves with foolish statement

Forest’s statement is beyond embarrassing. Every team has decisions that go against them; they’re not unique in that sense.

Mark Clatterburg’s appointment as an advisor was a foolish decision. Forest are now known as the team that immediately blames officials when anything goes wrong. They simply need to take their medicine and move on.

Furthermore, even if the VAR operator was a Luton Town fan, there’s no reason for the official to be biased towards either side. Everton, along with Forest, are in a perilous position themselves.

Meaningless threats like the one above aren’t a good look.
