'All over the park': BBC pundit blown away by one Liverpool player's work-rate v Fulham today

Liverpool continued their own quest towards the title by getting past Fulham at Craven Cottage today.

After a nightmare last ten days, Liverpool simply had to get back to winning ways after seeing Arsenal win this weekend and Man City not in action.

For Jurgen Klopp, a big decision over team selection had many a Liverpool fan scratching their head.

The likes of Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch were included from the off, while Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah dropped to the bench.

There were also starts for the returning Trent Alexander-Arnold, while young midfielder Harvey Elliott also came into the side and impressed.

Indeed, the young Englishman was involved in a lot of Liverpool’s good play and he got himself an assist for Ryan Gravenberch’s goal.

And watching on for the BBC, pundit Mark Schwarzer was very impressed with the work-rate shown by Elliott in the middle.

“Harvey Elliott works really hard, he’s been all over the park and his work rate is excellent,” Schwarzer said.

Harvey Elliott now such a key player for Liverpool

With Liverpool having so much quality in the midfield at the moment, it’s hard to make a case at times to say someone should 100% play all the time.

However, in recent weeks especially, Harvey Elliott has shown himself to be a top player for the Reds and he is making his own case more and more.

Elliott has been a revelation in the last few years and his development under Jurgen Klopp has been obvious.

Right now, despite the quality Liverpool have, Elliott is very much a player who you’d be hard pushed to leave out of the starting XI.

As Schwarzer says here, his work-rate is that of a typical Klopp player and in a way, it’s a shame the German is leaving this summer.

Elliott will go onto be a top player at Anfield for years to come and displays like today prove it.
