'The FA have told us': ITV presenter confirms whether Andre Onana will now be suspended for FA Cup final

Mark Pougatch has shared whether Andre Onana will now be suspended for the FA Cup final after being booked twice during Manchester United’s FA Cup semi-final with Coventry City.

Erik ten Hag’s men have just about booked their spot in the final where they will face Manchester City once again.

At one stage, it appeared that United would cruise into the final. They took a 3-0 lead, and held onto that lead until the final 20 minutes.

But Coventry came to life from there. They somehow managed to take the game to extra-time, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka being penalised for a stoppage-time handball inside the penalty area.

Andre Onana was booked for time wasting as the Premier League side looked to see out the game. And that was not to be the final time the goalkeeper went in the referee’s book.

Onana got involved in the mind games of the penalty shootout, clearly looking to put off Ben Sheaf before the Coventry captain took his spot-kick.

That saw him booked again. But, just as was the case with Emiliano Martinez in midweek, Onana was not sent off as the cards reset in the shootout.

Nevertheless, Manchester United fans may have been concerned about whether the summer signing will now be suspended for the final against Manchester City.

But speaking on ITV (broadcast on 21/4; 18:39), Mark Pougatch suggested that the Cameroonian will be available for the game against Pep Guardiola’s side.

“No, the FA have told us. He’s not suspended for the cup final,” he said.

Big boost for Manchester United after remarkable scare

United will know just how fortunate they have been to reach the final. Coventry gave them an incredible scare, even scoring right at the end of extra-time before it was ruled out for offside.

Onana has improved as the season has gone on. So his performance will be massive against City when they return to Wembley.

Thankfully for ten Hag, he will have Onana available to him as things stand.
