‘All over the park’: BBC pundit amazed by ‘excellent’ Liverpool player today

Just what the doctor ordered, three points for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp against Fulham to get back on the Premier League title horse.

Before a ball was kicked, Liverpool fans were probably left surprised by the changes from the manager, even though they played in midweek.

Star man Mohamed Salah was left out of the XI, but it mattered very little because Liverpool managed to secure a 3-1 win over Fulham.

The man to open the scoring for the away side was Trent Alexander-Arnold, but they would have been left frustrated when they conceded on the stroke of half-time.

The Premier League title-chasers didn’t allow that to affect them because they came out for the second half to re-take the lead through Ryan Gravenberch.

That’s when Diogo Jota made sure of the points by scoring just after 70 minutes to the delight of the Liverpool fans.

But it wasn’t any of the goalscorers that impressed Mark Schwarzer, he opted to highlight rising star, Harvey Elliott.

The former goalkeeper stated that Elliott was ‘all over the park’ for his team as he also highlighted the player’s ‘excellent’ work-rate, as he told BBC Sport.

This was a deserved start for Elliott because he has been one of Liverpool’s best players in recent months, but he probably hasn’t got the regular starts that he would have wanted.

Well, he did against Fulham on Sunday and he made it count by producing a top display and also registering himself an assist.

“Harvey Elliott works really hard,” said Schwarzer. “He’s been all over the park and his work-rate is excellent.”

Liverpool and Arsenal put pressure on Manchester City

Last Sunday, Liverpool and Arsenal shot themselves in the foot by losing within hours of each other.

That handed Manchester City the initiative and it still puts them in the driving seat when it comes to winning the Premier League title.

But after Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Wolves on Saturday, and with the champions in FA Cup action, it has allowed both clubs to push ahead of the favourites before they play again next week.

Yes, many would still back Pep Guardiola and his team to do the job, but at the end of the day, pressure is still pressure and you never know how Man City might react.
