‘World-class’… Gary Neville names his Man of the Match for Liverpool against Fulham

Gary Neville has named his Man of the Match after Liverpool beat Fulham 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.

It was a game of two halves really for Liverpool. The first-half was far from a convincing performance by the Reds.

Even though they went into the break level, Liverpool had just one shot on target from open play.

They needed to improve in the second-half and did exactly that with some brilliant goals scored by Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota.

Those goals have ensured Liverpool continue to fight for the Premier League title and nothing is quite over yet.

There is still a chance both Arsenal and Manchester City drop points. All Liverpool have got to do now is to focus on themselves.

Gary Neville names his Man of the Match in Liverpool vs Fulham game

There were a few quality individual displays for Liverpool this afternoon against Fulham. Ryan Gravenberch put in a much improved performance and scored his first Premier League goal for the club.

Diogo Jota also netted a nice finish and continued his great form this season.

But undoubtedly the best performance of the game was the one produced by Trent Alexander-Arnold. We saw just how good he was in the first-half against Atalanta earlier this week.

This was another good display and a brilliant goal from the Liverpool vice-captain, which rightfully earned him the Man of the Match award.

“It’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.” Neville said when asked to name his Man of the Match on Sky Sports.

“It’s not been a sort of world-class performance performance there today by any stretch of the imagination, but he scored a world-class goal, for that man in his first game back. Solid display.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s world-class numbers this season

The 25-year-old’s underlying numbers have been really impressive as well and almost Kevin de Bruyne like.

According to Wyscout, he ranks in number one spot for the following metrics in the Premier League this season:

  • Passes to the final third (13.78 per 90)
  • Passes to the penalty area (6.03 per 90)
  • Progressive passes (14.87 per 90)
  • Through passes (3.16 per 90)
