What Harvey Elliott did at full-time in Liverpool vs Fulham after being booed at Craven Cottage

This is what Harvey Elliott did at full-time against Fulham after Liverpool’s 3-1 win at Craven Cottage.

For Harvey Elliott, this game at Craven Cottage is always a memorable one. It’s a ground where he made history and became the youngest Premier League player in history all the way back in 2019.

Elliott spent many years at Fulham and came through the club’s entire academy system, even playing alongside another future Liverpool player in Fabio Carvalho.

For the 21-year-old Liverpool attacker, the club is clearly very close to his heart. Although, Fulham fans may not feel the same way about Elliott.

Instead, they greeted his return to Craven Cottage with constant boos every single time he was in possession of the ball.

What Harvey Elliott did at full-time against Fulham

It’s probably not the reaction Elliott was expecting considering he gave so many years of his life to Fulham.

And especially since nobody could begrudge him for leaving the club when the opportunity came to join his boyhood favourite team in Liverpool.

Even more so in hindsight with the way Elliott has progressed through the ranks under Jurgen Klopp over the last few years.

Football fans are often not logical though. The game tends to provoke emotional and irrational responses from all of us. That was evident among the crowd of Fulham supporters who booed Elliott today.

It’s a testament to the young player’s maturity that he never rose to the taunts. Instead, after the full time whistle, Elliott gave his shirt to a young kid sitting in the home section according to Daily Mail journalist Lewis Steele.

A classy performance and a classy act from Elliott

Elliott registered yet another assist against Fulham today, providing the decisive pass to Ryan Gravenberch for his first Premier League goal.

It means Elliott now has 11 goal contributions for Liverpool (and this doesn’t even include the own goal he forced against Wolves nor the penalty he won against Manchester United).

On and off the pitch, Elliott has been brilliant this season and today was another example of that. One more assist added to his tally and a classy gesture gifting his shirt to a young supporter.
