'Having a decent season': Sean Dyche says £3m Nottingham Forest player has impressed him this year

Away from the VAR controversies, Sean Dyche has found some time to praise one Nottingham Forest player after yesterday’s game.

The Reds lost 2-0 to Everton at Goodison Park in a game marred by three controversial decisions not to award Forest a penalty.

Ashley Young was responsible for all three of the calls and he can count his lucky stars after yesterday’s game.

Forest didn’t play particularly well but had one or two of the penalties been given, the outcome of the game could have been completely different.

Dyche did find time to praise Young – conveniently – but he also had some nice comments for one Forest star.

Sean Dyche raves about Forest star Callum Hudson-Odoi

Well, it has been a pretty drab few days for Forest. Last week, season ticket card prices caused a stir and now the Reds have gone to town on Stuart Attwell.

The decision to put him on VAR for the game as a Luton Town fan was bizarre, to say the least, and it’s not helped that three awful decisions came from Stockley Park.

The man who came in for some praise from Dyche was Callum Hudson-Odoi and he probably was the pick of the bunch from a Forest perspective.

Dyche told Everton’s official website: “Jimmy (Garner) did well when we came on, so I was very pleased with the group. [Ashley Young] was strong, dealing with their threat of (Callum) Hudson-Odoi, who’s having a decent season, and I thought he was very strong one-on-one.”

Forest now reliant on star winger to keep them up

It’s getting to boiling point for Forest now and ultimately, they have to start winning matches if they’re to stay up.

The Reds can’t rely on Luton losing every single game between now and the end of the season and have to start winning.

Hudson-Odoi has been a great signing for Forest and at £3 million he looks like an absolute steal for the club.

Of late, he’s been on a bit of a hot streak in front of goal and hopefully, he can keep producing the goods in the final four games.

Hudson-Odoi was right to win praise for his efforts yesterday and other Forest stars would be wise to take note of his work rate during the 90 minutes.
