Report: How those at Chelsea really feel about Mauricio Pochettino after FA Cup semi-final defeat

Chelsea fans may be starting to really question Mauricio Pochettino right now.

Despite being the better team on the day, Mauricio Pochettino was unable to guide Chelsea to victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals.

The Blues did not see as much of the ball as City did — no one ever does — but they had better opportunities than their Premier League rivals.

According to The xG Philosophy, Chelsea’s xG was 1.29, while City’s was only 0.86.

Their elimination from the FA Cup now means they will finish the season trophyless and will have to finish inside the top six to qualify for the Europa League. It has certainly not been a good campaign for Pochettino.

How Chelsea feel about Mauricio Pochettino right now

While the Chelsea fanbase may not be the biggest supporters of Pochettino at present, it is a bit different within the club.

The Argentine has not been sacked yet, so he is obviously being backed for now.

In fact, according to The Athletic, Pochettino is actually really liked and respected by those inside of Chelsea.

He now needs to try and change how Chelsea fans view him, which will be even more difficult after his second loss at Wembley as Blues boss.

However, the 52-year-old does not deserve too much blame for what happened on Saturday. If Nicolas Jackson converted his chances, it would have been a completely different game. The Senegal international has since come in for a lot of criticism for his performance.

Mauricio Pochettino’s most used players by appearances

There are three players at Chelsea who have been used 40 or more times by Pochettino this season, including Conor Gallagher and Axel Disasi.

No one has made more appearances than the former under Pochettino in the current campaign.

The likes of Gallagher and Disasi may have played less if Chelsea did not have so many injuries.

They have had problems in midfield and defence, with Romeo Lavia only managing to make one appearance this term, while Wesley Fofana has not been able to feature at all.
