'Outstanding': Virgil van Dijk seriously impressed by two Liverpool players against Fulham yesterday

Liverpool beat Fulham with ease yesterday and Virgil van Dijk was very impressed by two Liverpool players’ performances.

The Reds desperately needed a win and got it thanks to goals from Diogo Jota, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ryan Gravenberch.

The win put Liverpool back in business when it comes to the Premier League title and for Jurgen Klopp, it means he still has a chance to snatch the big one before he leaves.

Of course, for Liverpool to win their remaining games, they’re going to need all their players to step up to the mark and produce.

Right now, given the rotation in the squad, there is a chance for everyone to contribute.

And according to Virgil van Dijk, a couple of players who Liverpool fans might see as squad players have been really impressive.

Virgil van Dijk praises Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch’s Liverpool impact

Speaking to NBC Sports, Van Dijk was asked specifically about the performance of Gakpo at Fulham.

And giving the Dutchman his props, Van Dijk was full of praise for both Gakpo and fellow Netherlands star, Ryan Gravenberch.

“Listen, Cody has been outstanding in my opinion ever since he arrived at the club. I think the only difficulty he had was when he was playing so many different positions. But he is learning and I think he’s so important for the club and will be important going forward,” Van Dijk said.

“Today he was outstanding. Same goes with Ryan, to come in, not only to score a goal but also in possession. We see it every single day and so when there is a chance for him to play, which I’m sure there will be like today, but yeah, outstanding.”

Van Dijk is very much the leader of this Liverpool team right now and his positive words here about his two teammates will go down well with the pair.

Gakpo very much produced a brilliant performance yesterday and with Darwin Nunez struggling for goals and form, the Dutchman could very much get another start this week.

Gravenberch, meanwhile, is still a young man finding his feet in England. But this was a performance for him to build on and hopefully, one he can kick on from.
