Report: Yankuba Minteh has now decided what he wants to do next season

Yankuba Minteh has now made a decision about his immediate Newcastle United future.

There is a huge amount of buzz surrounding the 19-year-old, as he continues to enjoy an incredible loan spell away from Newcastle United.

Yankuba Minteh has been brilliant for Feyenoord, and even helped them win a trophy on Sunday. The Rotterdam club beat NEC Nijmegen 1-0 to win the KNVB Cup, with Minteh starting in attack. However, his afternoon ended early after being sent off for two yellow cards.

Despite his sending off, Minteh is still held in high regard at Feyenoord. He has proven to be an excellent addition to Arne Slot’s squad, scoring 10 goals and providing four assists.

Newcastle United to look at Yankuba Minteh in pre-season

Feyenoord fans love Minteh, while Newcastle United supporters are eager to see what he can do in black and white.

They might not have to wait too long, with Eddie Howe expected to take a look at the teenager during pre-season. Toon officials will decide whether or not they think Minteh is ready for Premier League football, or if he should be sent out on loan for a second season.

And a new report from the Netherlands suggests that is actually what Minteh would prefer, as he continues to go from strength to strength at Feyenoord.

What Yankuba Minteh wants to do next season

According to Voetbal International, Minteh would like to spend another year on loan at Feyenoord.

They report that the Dutch side are going to do whatever it takes to keep the Gambia international, and have already held talks with Newcastle United about retaining the youngster’s services for one more season.

Voetbal International add that Newcastle are delighted with how Minteh has developed during his year away, and will take a proper look at him in pre-season.

Newcastle have a big decision to make

Newcastle United have a tough decision to make involving Minteh this summer. While it is clear that Garang Kuol needs another loan spell, it is less obvious what the club should do with Minteh.

On the one hand, he has done so well with Feyenoord that it looks like he could have an impact in the Premier League already. On top of that, he could be a readymade replacement for Miguel Almiron, who is being linked with a move away from St James’ Park.

Alternatively, another year of playing consistent first-team football for a top club like Feyenoord could be much better for Minteh in the long run.

That is apparently what he wants, and it would perhaps be unwise not to succumb to his demands.

Ultimately, he wants to play for Newcastle United. He has stated that it is his dream to play in the Premier League. And he might be better placed to achieve his dream if he spends another year out on loan.

It all depends on how good the Newcastle coaching staff think he looks when he reports for pre-season. If he already is that good then perhaps the Magpies will have no choice but to keep him and use him consistently in the Premier League next season.

But if that is not the case then a return to Feyenoord could be best for all parties.
