Netflix has finally dropped a date for the highly-anticipated roast of NFL legend Tom Brady. The streaming giant announced on Monday that the live event will be on May 5, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET.

Brady’s production company, 199 Productions, is part of a team putting together Netflix’s Greatest Roasts of All Time: GROATS. As part of the deal, the former Michigan star and Patriots legend is participating as the show’s first roast victim.

Brady tweeted about the event date, writing: “*panic setting in*”

His episode was initially set to record after the 2022 season, however, it was delayed as the Buccaneers QB announced his retirement (again). The streaming service did not reveal who could show up to burn the future Hall of Famer, however, we do know that comedian Kevin Hart will serve as the host.

Netflix announced the date with a post that included the caption: “No Brady Rule. No Pads. No Mercy.”

“We can’t wait to burn three-time Super Bowl-losing quarterback Tom Brady, who only went back to the NFL in order to delay this roast,” Robbie Praw, Netflix vice president of stand-up and comedy formats, said. “In all seriousness, it’s a huge thrill to work with the greatest football player of all time on this project. No one’s better at taking hits and still coming out on top, so we know the roast will be a breeze for Brady.”

Brady set to enter broadcasting booth

Despite two years off, Brady is not ruling out a return to the NFL. While appearing on DeepCut with VicBlends, the seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback was asked if he would make a comeback if a team lost its starting QB late in the year.

“I’m not opposed to it,” Brady said. “I don’t know if they’re going to let me, if I become an owner of an NFL team, I don’t know. I’m always going to be in good shape, always going to be able to throw the ball. So, to come in for a little bit, like MJ coming back, I don’t know if they’d let me, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it.”

It’s not the first time Brady has discussed a comeback after announcing his retirement in February 2023. He has downplayed a potential return since he already made a comeback. And as Brady mentioned, he likely could not play return as a player if he becomes a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders due to a conflict of interest. He’ll also be entering the FOX Sports broadcasting booth for the 2024 season. Before beginning his new venture, he took a year off and did prep with many cohorts, including Tony Romo.

Brady played for the Patriots from 2000-2019 and won six Super Bowls with the squad. He then played for the Buccaneers from 2020-2022 and helped the team win a Super Bowl during his first season.

In his career, Brady threw for an NFL record 89,214 yards, 649 touchdowns and has a passer rating of 97.2. He has been selected to the Pro Bowl 15 times, the All-Pro Team six times, and has won a total of eight Super Bowl and NFL MVP awards.
