Sean Dyche should spring surprise and start £15m Everton player vs Liverpool - opinion

Everton are back in Premier League action again tomorrow, with there being no time to rest on their laurels after Sunday’s all-important victory.

After all, they don’t come much bigger than this, with a chance to effectively cement their survival charge with an unlikely win in the Merseyside derby.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will be seeking to uphold their title charge, making this a clash that will result in far more than just bragging rights around the city.

Despite coming off the back of a spirited win over Nottingham Forest though, Sean Dyche is set to be without a few key men, which will not aid his task.

Will Beto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin be injured vs Liverpool?

Having started with Dominic Calvert-Lewin up front, who had missed Monday’s demolition at Chelsea due to a minor injury, his return to the starting lineup was well received.

However, at 67 minutes, the 27-year-old was withdrawn having received treatment just earlier, drawing fresh scrutiny regarding his fitness.

Although it is a substitution often made, with Beto brought on in his place, the Portuguese marksman was then subsequently carried off on a stretcher after a nasty blow to the head left him in a heap on the Goodison turf.

Depending on the severity of Calvert-Lewin’s knee injury, the Toffees could have an almighty vacancy up front that needs filling.

It could therefore be time for Youssef Chermiti to make himself a hero.

Youssef Chermiti will have to start for Everton

Having joined in the summer for £15m, many questioned why such a cash-strapped club had paid such a hefty sum for a third first-choice striker.

But with the fee spread out over many years, this 19-year-old was swiftly outlined as one for the future.

And having failed to make a single Premier League start this season, that much is obvious.

A solid 13 appearances off the bench do suggest that he is in the thinking of Dyche though, which will have only been cemented given he boasts a handful of goals for the U21s this season.

He certainly knows where the back of the net is, and has impressed in his brief first-team cameos with neat touches and link-up play.

Despite his youth and 6 foot 4 frame, the teenage finisher showcases a maturity that will stand him in good stead in the coming years.

Perhaps, Dyche might have no other choice than to unleash the former Sporting CP starlet, handing him his first start in the English top flight in a Merseyside derby.
