Report: Jason Wilcox now adds the 'next Martin Odegaard' to Manchester United shortlist

The summer for Manchester United is likely to be a busy one, and now one teenager has been linked with a move.

For Erik ten Hag, things look bleak, and with Jason Wilcox said to be running the rule over him, it’s hard to imagine the Dutchman impressing.

But no matter what goes on with the managerial spot this summer, the club will be making signings based on a defined philosophy as opposed to a manager’s targets.

This means, especially with Wilcox already starting work, transfer links have just got a whole lot more exciting with plans actively being worked on – made even more urgent as he watched the squad crumble at 3-0 up on Sunday.

Now, there’s been an exciting teenager added to the shortlist by Manchester United. Here’s what we know.

Jason Wilcox adds Sverre Nypan to shortlist

The player that has been added to the shortlist is 17-year-old wonderkid Sverre Nypan, and it’s a move which would be a tremendous addition to the youth ranks at Carrington.

It comes, according to journalist Christopher Michel who wrote for Fussball News.

It states that United have Nypan on the list, in what would be an investment for the future as he isn’t quite ready yet.

It states that those responsible within Old Trafford, rate Nypan’s “rate game intelligence, positional and space sense”, however, there are concerns over his “athleticism and maturity”.

Due to this, the report says that the plan would be to sign him before allowing him to build himself up as a player through loan moves.

This would be a move like we’ve been advised Ineos may be keen to do at United, and it could be likely he heads to Lausanne on loan

Nypan has even been labelled as the ‘next Martin Odegaard‘, along with being compared to Frenkie de Jong, both of which are a testament to his quality.

Signing Nypan would be genius by Manchester United

Right now, it’s unlikely that Nypan costs more than £15m given he’s playing in Norway, so it’d be a genius move to sign him now, even if he takes some development.

It’s a move that we as United fans have been dreaming about seeing the club do for years and a deal like so many we’ve missed out on only to regret.

It’s a move with fits the bill for Wilcox this summer too as Nypan is one of the continent’s best talents.

With Ineos potentially looking to use the multi-club model, it’s an ideal move for Nypan too, as he might first be on loan with Lausanne then possibly Nice before he’s United-ready.

An exciting move we hope happens.
