Whitney Cummings joined the mom club in December 2023, and though she couldn't be happier to welcome her son into the world, she is still getting used to her new normal.
"No one prepared me! Even if they did, nothing could have prepared me for my own son peeing in my face! No one prepared me for the amount of stuff you need — and when you need it. As a woman, you're like, 'Oh, I don't have eyeliner. I could use some lip liner.' When you have a baby, you're like, 'I don't have any diaper cream.' Adjusting to everything has been a lot," the 41-year-old, who is teaming up with Walmart+ and a group of celebrity moms to share their tips and advice on motherhood with moms everywhere through their interactive Mother’s Day campaign, exclusively tells Morning Honey.
"It's surreal," she continues of motherhood. "I grew up in a very sort of dysfunctional home. I didn't want to repeat the mistakes my parents made. I was such a perfectionist and then finally I surrendered and I was like, 'There's no such thing as a perfect time. There's no such thing as a perfect partner. It's perfect for you. There's no such thing as a perfect mother, and there's never a good time to have a kid.' You have the kid and then you get ready and figure it out! Nothing prepares you for this. I am really glad I did it later at a time when there's a lot of women-made products out there."
The comedian is enjoying this time with her tot, saying he's the "best show" on TV. "You just stare at him. He's taught me what love is really about," she raves. "As a woman, I've talked about struggling with eating disorders and body image, but after having a baby, it's amazing to see what your body can do. It gave me a new level of self-esteem I wasn't expecting. Every stretch match is 'imperfection.'"
For years, the2 Broke Girls creator spent her whole life being "independent," but now, she's lucky to have her son by her side. "I just want to spend time with him. I spent my life avoiding intimacy, so it's a very big change," she quips. "There are so many emotions involved that no one prepared me for!"
Since Cummings, who has not disclosed who the father of her child is, is learning something new every single, she was thrilled to partner with Walmart+ for their “Mother of all Savings Memberships” Campaign, which launched on TikTok Top View on Monday, April 22 at 12:01 AM CST.
"In the beginning, I was like, 'When can I return something? I haven't showered in four days, I haven't flossed in two months, I barely know my own name.' So with Walmart+, there's this incredible program where it's like free deliveries, free returns, everything is just made so easy. No one tells you about all those things that are such a huge hassle. I'm grateful this exists. It was such an organic partnership — it's where I shop to begin with!"
"It's tough to make it to the store right now. This incredible program makes everything so much easier in those moments when you're hanging by a thread," she adds. "This program supports moms, which I love. To be able to go to Walmart+ and the problem is solved in the next 24 hours is beautiful. They make it so easy."
On Tuesday, April 23 and Wednesday, April 24, all celebrity moms will be a part of the Walmart+ Mother’s Day TikTok event, answering real moms’ questions and discussing how Walmart+ fits into their lives.
