Yaya Toure has admitted Tottenham have a ‘very talented’ player who earns just £55k-per-week

Yaya Toure has told one Tottenham Hotspur player that he is ‘very talented’ following his time at the club as a coach.

The former Premier League midfielder spent a season at Hotspur Way where he earned his coaching badges with the Spurs academy.

Toure has since left the club and moved on to Saudi Arabia where he has become the assistant manager of the national side.

But it is apparent it was not just the youth sides which Toure had an influence on with one of Ange Postecoglou‘s men recalling a previous conversation with Toure.

Tottenham have enjoyed a promising first season under the Australian manager where European football looks a certainty.

And there have been some standout performers over the course of the season with Guglielmo Vicario being one of them.

But it is one of the outfield players who Toure has hailed with the player looking for some advice from the former Barcelona midfielder.

Yaya Toure says Tottenham have one seriously talented player at their disposal

Some huge games are coming up for Tottenham and none bigger than this Sunday’s North London Derby.

Returning to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after their dismal defeat on Tyneside against Newcastle United, Spurs need to make up ground on Aston Villa.

And some players will need to seriously up their game after what was shown at St. James’ Park for the second consecutive year.

One of those players is midfielder Yves Bissouma who failed to impress once again in what is proving to be a seriously difficult spell for the Mali international.

Despite his poor performances, the 27-year-old has maintained his spot in the starting XI with Pape Matar Sarr the one to recently drop out.

Bissouma has racked up 24 appearances in the Premier League this season with 23 of those coming from the starting XI.

But it is apparent Bissouma has the backing of Toure as he shared details of their conversation in a recent Sky Sports interview.

“He told me just to be focused on football. Everything I have to do I have to stay focused on football. I have to dream football, live football, sleep football. Everything was about football,” said Bissouma.

“He then told me he didn’t have much to say because I’m very talented but just small things can make the difference. Just to stay focused.”

Graham Roberts issued Yves Bissouma warning after Newcastle defeat

The defeat on Tyneside two weeks ago was one which many will want to forget, but a lot of the players will have to learn from that.

Bissouma is certainly one of those players with the midfielder’s display worthy of losing his spot for the game against Arsenal on Sunday.

Here is a summary of his display vs Newcastle.

  • 57 minutes played
  • 40 touches
  • 28/32 successful passes
  • 6X lost possession
  • 2 fouls
  • 3 tackles
  • 2 clearances

And in what was an extremely ineffective display from the £55k-per-week midfielder, Spurs legend Graham Roberts had some choice words to say.

“Our 2 centre backs need to take responsibility at corners we have not won one header it’s embarrassing at moment midfield bissouma needs to up his game,” he wrote on X.
