Hollywood legend slaps camera out of woman's hand as he's confronted in coffee shop

Alec Baldwin was caught in a heated exchange with a woman in a coffee shop when she confronted the movie star while recording the conversation on her phone.

The 66-year-old appeared to slap the phone from her hand when she wouldn’t leave him alone and repeating her questions and statements. The Hollywood star was in a coffee shop in New York City recently, when a woman realizes it was Alec Baldwin and begins filming him. The clip has since gone viral on social media, with a lot of fans coming to his defense on Twitter.

The Beetlejuice actor was seen talking on his phone near the counter of the establishment when the video begins.

The celebrity was asked by the woman why he ‘killed that lady’, referring to the cinematographer who died on the set of Rust.

On October 21, 2021, the actor’s prop gun fired a live round of ammunition and tragically hit 42-year-old Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza. In 2023, he was charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter, but they were dropped last April pending further investigation. Then in January 2024, he was charged again but has pleaded not guilty. A trial is set to begin in July.

In a video shared to X (Twitter), Alec Baldwin can be seen being hounded by the woman in the coffee shop, and it appears to get on his nerves.

She keeps repeating: “Why did you kill that lady? You killed that lady and got no jail time.

“No jail time Alec. No jail time Alec. You’re putting innocent people in jail Alec Baldwin.”

She then requests the movie star shout ‘free Palestine’ and tells him if he says it ‘one time’ she’ll ‘leave him alone’.

The dad of seven begs the staff for help and asks them to call the police, but she calls him a “f*****g criminal”.

Alec Baldwin then asks her to leave the coffee shop while trying to ignore her comments, but then the camera is close to his face, and he appears to slap the phone from her hand.

Fans defend the star

A community note from the social platform accompanies the clip.

It says: “The person filming this video was not ‘trying to get coffee’. They repeatedly and viciously harassed Alec Baldwin and refused to leave the establishment when asked to by the staff. There is also no evidence they were attacked.”

Fans also seem to be on Alec Baldwin’s side over the coffee shop exchange.

One wrote: “In all honesty, he’s 100% right”.

“People who confront people with their iPhones and act like this get [what they] deserve,” a second wrote.

And a third wrote: “She had that coming,” while a fourth added: “She provoked him and then we’re supposed to be surprised when he did something?”
