American Idol‘s Mandisa Tribute:

During last Sunday’s episode of American Idol, host Ryan Seacrest recognized Mandisa’s death and revealed the show planned to honor her this Sunday (April 29). “She was an inspiration on the show and beyond,” he said.

Several notable singers from the Christian music world have commented on her death. Frequent collaborator TobyMac shared several photos and a heartfelt statement on Instagram.

“I have never met an artist who is more encouraging and supportive to other artists than Mandisa,” he writes.

Paula Abdul called Mandisa a “beacon of light,” and Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks honored her voice and personality.

Mandisa’s body was examined by the local medical examiner. Autopsies often take six to 12 weeks to finish. Previously, she’d written about her mental health struggles and thoughts of death by suicide.

After her death, several people referred to these same struggles. Her social media team announced her death and asked for prayers as they focused on all that was positive, saying she was a “voice of encouragement and truth to people facing life’s challenges all around the world.”
