Tim Sherwood says one Manchester City man should be considered as one of the best the Premier League has ever seen.
After winning the Treble last season, which included their fifth Premier League title in six years, the Manchester club cemented themselves as the best side in the world.
With the Blues now on the hunt to win a fourth league title in a row, one pundit and former top-flight manager has pinpointed one figure at City who he feels deserves special recognition.
Sherwood says Man City man is one of the best ever
Speaking in a recent edition of Under The Cosh, Sherwood had this to say about Pep Guardiola and his ability as a coach.
He said: “For me, he’s the best coach we’ve ever had in the Premier League, bar none.
“I think Ferguson is still up there as the best manager, he has to be.
“But people pay a lot of money to get their kids educated at private school.
“These boys at these academies who break through and train in the first team with this guy, are actually getting paid to do it, it’s incredible.
|He is a genius, he is the best teacher of football you’re ever, ever going to get.”
Pep Guardiola has had a very successful time in England
Since the Spaniard was appointed as City’s manager back in 2016, the Blues have won five Premier League titles, two FA Cups and four League Cups.
In terms of their European achievements, they won the Champions League at the end of last season and then the UEFA SuperCup and FIFA Club World Cup earlier in this campaign.
Out of the 465 games the 53-year-old has overlooked with the Citizens, they have won 343 in total, drawing 57 and losing 65.
Back in Guardiola, was named as UEFA’s Best Men’s Coach for 2023, making it the third time he’s been given this title.
Having broken numerous records during his time in England, this all makes it easy to see why Sherwood thinks so highly of the City boss.
Taking all of that on board, we feel that it would be hard to find any City fan who didn’t consider Guardiola to be one of the best managers the Premier League has ever had.
