King Charles' strict order was a 'slap in the face' for Prince Harry - 'Hurtful'

Last year, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were told to remove their belongings from their former UK home, Frogmore Cottage. The ‘decision’ came shortly after the Duke’s memoir Spare dropped, and it’s now been reported he was left “furious”.

Prince Harry released his bombshell memoir Spare in January 2023, which is thought to have further strained his relationship with the other members of the royal family. He and Meghan Markle had completely vacated by June, less than six months after the release, under orders from King Charles. Now, it’s been revealed Harry changed his primary residence from the United Kingdom to the United States on the same day the couple confirmed they had left the property.

Prince Harry was ‘furious’ when he was ‘made to vacate’ UK home

Although Harry and Meghan have resided in their Montecito mansion for over three years, Frogmore Cottage was the Duke’s ‘last connection’ to his home country.

The residence was also a tie to his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, who gifted the property to the couple after they got married in 2018.

“At the time, few people realized what a slap in the face the eviction from Frogmore felt like for Harry – it was the last straw,” royal biographer Tom Quinn told The Mirror.

“Harry was absolutely furious and in tears about being evicted from Frogmore – he felt his father had no right to do it and that it was purely vindictive,” the expert continued. He added the Duke “didn’t understand” why stepping back from being a working royal would deprive him of his residence.

“Harry took it as a cruel rejection – a painful reminder of all that he felt when his father fought with his mother during their long-drawn-out, painful divorce,” Quinn concluded.

The Duke is expected to see his father for a ‘short and formal visit’ next month

The Duke will be back in the UK next month for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. However, it is unknown whether Meghan Markle or their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will be by his side.

Tom Quinn claims Harry will have a “short and formal” meeting with his father, after travelling to London on a flying visit earlier in the year after Charles announced his cancer diagnosis.

The half-an-hour chat between the son and father at the start of this year is said to have been the first proper private conversation between the two in 15 months.
