Upcoming iPhone 16 could make major change as they axe long-held feature

Insiders have claimed that Apple is preparing to rock the iPhone 16 boat by making a major change to their buttons which could be the biggest hardware update since the removal of the home button in 2017.

Each year, Apple launches a new iPhone which, if we are being completely honest, looks almost identical to previous models. Though the newer models boast impressive internal updates, Apple customers have not seen a major design change in a number of years.

The iPhone 16 will reportedly feature zero buttons

As reported by the Chinese outlet Economic Daily, and pushed forward by Apple Insider, the upcoming iPhone 16 will allegedly come button-less and with capacitive buttons in its place. Capacitive buttons work by sensing the pressure of your finger through a touchscreen-like surface.

Rumors of capacitive buttons have swirled around technology circles for years, with some claiming that they were initially supposed to be launched alongside the iPhone 15 Pro Max last year. Another rumor came when MacRumors suggested the iPhone 16 would feature a brand new button called “Capture.” This magical and mysterious button was then dropped, but it’s allegedly part of September’s upcoming rollout.

If the rumors are to be believed it means we could very soon be bidding farewell to the Action button, Power button, and both volume buttons.

An exciting year ahead for iPhone lovers

Apple has lots planned for the rest of 2024 to keep their customers interested following the news that Samsung unseated them as the number one brand.

In September, it’s believed that Apple will launch the next phase with the release of the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, Apple Watch X, New Apple Watch Ultra, and AirPods 4. Alongside the pricey hardware releases, customers can also expect the launch of iOS 18.

Though features like adaptive voice shortcuts and fully customizable font settings are undeniably exciting, the crowning jewel of iOS18 is undoubtedly the artificial intelligence integration.

But it doesn’t stop there as Siri is set to get a new friend in the form of Ajax, who will help with Apple Music, Keynote, Pages, and Messages.
