Roy Keane calls out Man Utd star for doing same thing ‘far too many times’ this season as Erik ten Hag needs to take note

Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane has claimed that one Manchester United star has acted the same way “far too many times” amid a warning to manager Erik ten Hag.

Erik ten Hag remains in the Old Trafford hot seat for now amid mounting criticism over Manchester United’s lacklustre Premier League season.

The Dutchman avoided a horror-show result on the weekend after United narrowly avoided an embarrassing FA Cup exit at the hands of Coventry City.

United led Coventry City 3-0 at Wembley in their semi-final tie on Sunday before Erik ten Hag’s men capitulated late into the second half against the Championship side.

The Red Devils weathered the storm of extra time against Mark Robins’ men before securing a 4-2 victory over Coventry in a thrilling FA Cup semi-final match.

The FA Cup remains Ten Hag’s last real chance of lifting major silverware this season, with United highly unlikely to finish in the Premier League top four.

Keane calls out Man Utd star

Speaking after the FA Cup semi-final clash, Manchester United legend Roy Keane pulled no punches towards England international Marcus Rashford.

Marcus Rashford underwent a career resurgence in Erik ten Hag’s debut season at Old Trafford, with the United forward widely earning praise for his performances.

The 26-year-old Three Lions star scored an impressive 30 times and picked up 10 assists in 56 appearances across all competitions for United last season.

Rashford has since struggled to replicate the same scintillating form in the current campaign and has scored eight times in 40 appearances across all competitions.

The United forward had very little impact against Coventry City and was withdrawn and replaced by Amad Diallo before extra time in the contest.

Speaking on ITV, Keane insisted that Rashford has the “talent” to impact matches if he “turns up and starts running at people.”

However, the Sky Sports pundit criticised United star Rashford for “shrugging his shoulders and waving his arms” when he fails to deliver in matches.

“He’s got to affect the game, he’s done it many times before,” Keane said, as per the Manchester Evening News.

“We are sick of repeating ourselves on Marcus, he’s got to turn up.

“He’s dropped off, his standards this year we talk about off the pitch stuff… his body language, his work rate, all of that.

“He’s got the talent to affect the game today; if he turns up and starts running at people, he will have a big impact but if he’s shrugging his shoulders and waving his arms, then that’s not good enough either.

“He’s done that far too many times this season.”

Ten Hag on Man Utd star Rashford

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Ten Hag revealed that Rashford could be a doubt for the Sheffield United clash at Old Trafford.

“So, we had a problem with [Alejandro] Garnacho, that’s why we took him off during the game but I think he will be fine,” he said.

“Scott McTominay, we have to assess today. That is really doubtful.

“Marcus Rashford is also doubtful and then there was an issue with Bruno Fernandes, with the hand. But I think he can make it.

“So, we have some doubts going into the game tomorrow.”
