Three Liverpool players who will absolutely thrive under Arne Slot next season

There are three Liverpool players who could really benefit from Arne Slot’s system next season if he is appointed as the club’s new manager.

Arne Slot seems to be the frontrunner for the Liverpool job at this stage. After all the talk of Xabi Alonso and Ruben Amorim, it seems like Liverpool have had their eyes on Slot all along.

It’s an interesting and perhaps surprising choice at first glance. However, under the microscope, it’s a choice that makes absolute sense for Liverpool.

Slot’s high intensity gegenpressing playing style is eerily reminiscent of the way Jurgen Klopp likes to play at Liverpool.

In this way, there won’t be too much overwhelming change for Liverpool’s players. Slot very much means continuity for the club.

Which Liverpool players could flourish under Arne Slot?

Of course, Slot’s isn’t identical to Klopp. He will make minor changes at the club. His formation and system isn’t completely the same as Klopp.

One of the key variances is that Slot likes to play a double pivot in midfield, and use a more advanced midfielder as a number ten. In this sense, he very much plays a triangle midfield, which is a little bit different compared to Klopp’s diamond.

But it’s a system that could suit someone like Alexis Mac Allister really well. He is pretty much tailor made to play in a double pivot and could thrive with the way Slot wants his players to make quick and incisive passes.

Another player who could absolutely flourish in this new midfield shape under Slot is Dominik Szoboszlai. The Hungarian is a typical number ten and in this system he will be able to play in a more advanced role where he could bring out his qualities in the final third.

Given the fact that Szoboszlai is also a pressing machine, he will also really suit the way Slot wants his players to press really high up the pitch.

Who else could benefit from Slot’s appointment?

For Liverpool’s young players, Slot’s appointment is also a massive advantage for their development. Slot likes to play young players, and he has always played with a really young team both at AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord.

This means youngster will get plenty of opportunities under Slot. Among them, the one who could benefit the most is Bobby Clark.

He’s probably been one of the more impressive players who has broken through from the academy into the first team this season.

Like Szoboszlai, Clark is pretty much tailor made for that number ten role in Slot’s system, and he could be getting plenty of opportunities under Liverpool’s new potential boss if Slot is appointed.
