Pundit says player Man City let go in 2020 is one of the best of all time

Cesc Fabregas has said that one player Manchester City let go in 2020 is one of the best to ever play in the Premier League.

Over the past few years, lots of big-name players have waved goodbye to the Etihad Stadium after spending a significant amount of time at the club.

Now though, one former top-flight figure has been sharing his thoughts on some of the best players to ever feature in the Premier League, with one well-known ex-City player getting a special mention.

Speaking in a recent video shared on the Daily Mail Sport TikTok channel, Fabregas was asked to come up with an all-time greatest Premier League XI.

For one of his midfield spots, the former Arsenal and Chelsea player picked David Silva.

Back in the 2010 summer transfer window, City paid £24m to sign the World Cup winner from Valencia.

During his 10-year spell at the Manchester club, Silva made 436 appearances across all competitions, scoring 77 goals and delivering 139 assists in the process.

He also won numerous trophies including four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and five League Cups.

David Silva has a big legacy in England and at Man City

A year after he left City, the club unveiled a statue of the Spaniard outside the Etihad Stadium to commemorate his impressive efforts with the Citizens.

Last year, after it was announced that the midfield was forced to retire after he picked up an injury, Pep Guardiola shared this assessment of him and his career.

He said: His impact, not just at City, which was unbelievable, but every team he played for Valencia, Eibar, Real Sociedad and the national team.

“The best I have seen playing in the pockets. He was one of the players who allowed for the success of this team.

“David is one of them. It absolutely was a pleasure to be his manager and see day in and day out the quality he had.”

With all of that in mind, it shouldn’t be a surprise to any City fan that Fabregas picked his fellow Spaniard in his ultimate Premier League XI given how successful he was during his time in England.
