Roberto De Zerbi says £378k-a-week Man City man is completely ‘different’ to anyone else

Roberto De Zerbi has said that one figure at Manchester City is completely different to anyone else in world football.

Tomorrow evening will see the Citizens travel down south to take on Brighton & Hove Albion for their latest Premier League game.

Ahead of this clash at the AMEX Stadium, the Seagulls manager has highlighted one key figure at the Manchester club he feels is unlike anyone else in the world.

Speaking in his latest press conference ahead of tomorrow’s match between City and Brighton, De Zerbi had this to say about Pep Guardiola and what makes him different to any other head coach.

He said: “I think his passion is great, he loves football.

“But if you speak about the tactical part, he is a different coach, different man.

“There are a lot of coaches and there is Pep.”

Since the 53-year-old was appointed as City’s manager back in 2016, they have gone through 465 games across all competitions, winning 343, drawing 57 and losing 65.

In terms of the tactical side of his management, the Spaniard brought in the famous Tiki-Taka style during his time at Barcelona, as well as utilising a false-nine formation in certain games.

During his time at City, Guardiola has also deployed techniques such as putting players in new positions, such as playing John Stones in a hybrid midfield role in the second half of last season.

Will Pep Guardiola be seen as the best ever Premier League manager?

Having won a plethora of trophies during his entire managerial career with three of Europe’s biggest clubs, it’s no surprise that De Zerbi thinks so highly of the City boss, who is picking up a weekly wage of £378k-a-week.

To then highlight how his tactics make him different to anyone else, this should dismiss any suggestion that Guardiola’s success is solely down to the individual talents of the players he’s coached.
