Arsenal will seemingly be in the market for a new striker this summer.
The Gunners have been brilliant this year, but there’s this nagging feeling that they could’ve run away with the Premier League if they just had a clinical number nine.
This is something that Arsenal may be keen to address this summer, and one player who has been strongly linked in recent times is Ivan Toney.
The Brentford striker is about to enter the final year of his contract, and Arsenal are said to be keen on the England international.
However, speaking on Ben Foster’s Podcast, Troy Deeney has cast some doubts over this potential move.
Indeed, not only does Deeney think Toney will be very expensive – stating he could cost upwards of £90m, he says that he thinks his personality may be a bit too outlandish for Mikel Arteta.

Deeney shared his verdict on Arsenal potentially signing Toney.
“I reckon this year you’re looking at £90-100m. I think they know they will sell him. Even on that, because he has personality and because he’ll say something back I don’t think people want him. I look at Arsenal and Arteta wants a certain type of player, someone who falls into line, works hard, and does all of this. Does he have to bend a bit to put Ivan Toney in there? And that’s the crossroads Arsenal are at now,” Deeney said.

Deeney may not be wrong here.
Think about it, Mikel Arteta has been quick to oust players at Arsenal who won’t fall into line – Mesut Ozil, Mateo Guendouzi, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and there is a risk that Toney will fall into that category.
The striker isn’t afraid to voice his honest opinions in the media, and if he had a problem with anything at Arsenal, we’d all know about it.
Toney may just be a bit too much of a maverick for this Arsenal team at the moment.
