'I'm going to stick with': Gary Lineker shares who he thinks will win the Premier League - Man City or Arsenal

Gary Lineker has predicted whether Manchester City or Arsenal will win the Premier League this season.

It seems like Liverpool’s hopes of winning the title are dead and buried.

It was imperative for Jurgen Klopp’s side to go to Goodison Park and get the all-important three points against Everton.

However, Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin had different plans in store, as they got on the score sheet for the hosts in their 2-0 victory against the Reds.

As things stand, it seems like either Manchester City or Arsenal will take home the Premier League trophy at the end of the season.

Only time will tell whether the title race pans out like last season in this final stretch of games.

On one hand, the experience Pep Guardiola and his side in such must-win matches gives them the edge over Arsenal.

But then Mikel Arteta’s side are more experienced now and they would be determined to win one trophy this season.

The North London side’s chances of winning the double were destroyed by Bayern Munich, who beat them 3-2 on aggregate in the Champions League quarter-final.

However, Manchester City could also be spurred on to win the title due to losing to Real Madrid at the same stage and how their defeat would have inevitably brought criticism towards the team.

Both teams have a chance of making history if they get the job done.

The Sky Blues as arguably the best team the league has ever seen if they win four in a row and the Gunners could send a statement to the rest of the division that a title triumph is the start of their dynasty.

Gary Lineker, however, has chosen to stick with Arsenal over Manchester City as his predicted Premier League winners.

“The truth is, I don’t know. You can say what you want, whether it’d be one of the three. It could be any of them. I think if you probably put your life on it, you’d probably go Manchester City because they’re in prime spot now, it’s in their hands and they do have a tendency to win every game at the end of the season”, he told TNT Sports.

Lineker continued, “But I went for Arsenal at the start of the season, mainly because I do a little podcast [The Rest Is Football podcast] with Alan Shearer and Micah Richards and they both went for Manchester City. I thought someone’s got to be different.”

“But I thought they would push them this season because they’re gradually improving. I’m going to stick with Arsenal but with no confidence whatsoever, it could be any of the three, none of us know.”

Tough to split Manchester City and Arsenal

One can understand why Gary Lineker is finding it tough to pick a winner between Manchester City and Arsenal, even though he did side with the latter.

After all, winning four titles in a row is an impossibly difficult task, even for a team like City and perhaps they could stumble in this run-in.

But then, certain elite clubs like the Sky Blues and Real Madrid should always be given the benefit of the doubt in the face of huge challenges.

However, Arsenal’s performances have shown that there is no reason to doubt them either.

Both teams will be focused on winning all their remaining league games and let fate dictate the rest, starting with City’s game against Brighton.
