Steidten makes his pick and it's a new name in the frame but there's a problem

Tim Steidten has reportedly made his West Ham pick and it’s a new name in the frame but there’s a big problem.

David Moyes now looks increasingly likely to leave the Hammers.

The world and its wife seems to have been linked with the Scot’s position since Sunday’s embarrassing 5-2 defeat at Crystal Palace.

Replacing Moyes will be the top priority for West Ham technical director Tim Steidten and the owners.

Talks have been held with Ruben Amorim and Julen Lopetegui.

The Hammers are also being linked with Thomas Tuchel and Paulo Fonseca among others.

It has been claimed Steidten is keen on Amorim and Fonseca while Sullivan prefers Lopetegui.

Steidten has just recently publicly committed his future to the club after links to Liverpool and Newcastle.

West Ham on the hunt for new manager

He has hired his brother Moritz and has also appointed Max Hahn from one of his former clubs, Werder Bremen.

Steidten recently described his “euphoria” at being handed full control at West Ham.

And he states he sees it as a five-year project.

With a major rebuild needed this summer requiring at least 10 new signings, the manager situation must be sorted out quickly.

Hence why West Ham are probably struggling to keep their attempts at due diligence out of the press.

Steidten makes his pick but there’s a big problem

With Steidten in control of identifying Moyes’ replacement, it is perhaps no surprise he is looking at a fellow German.

Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeness is now said to be in the running to replace Moyes this summer, according to reporter Alex Crook.

The innovative 41-year-old has been earning rave reviews in Germany.

And it’s easy to see why after leading Stuttgart into the Champions League this season.

Speaking on talkSPORT’s White and Jordan on Thursday morning Crook mentioned Hoeness as a contender after what he’s heard from Germany.

“Lopetegui I think we have to say is a contender, there’s been talk of Sebastian Hoeness in Germany and he’s just taken Stuttgart into the Champions League,” Crook said.

“Thomas Tuchel, I’ve mentioned to you a couple of times as somebody Steidten thinks he could attract.”

Why Hoeness to Hammers simply won’t happen

Hoeness may well be a name West Ham would like to lure.

However it has next to no chance of happening it seems.

Not only did he sign a new contract until 2027 with Stuttgart last month.

But Hoeness then spoke out amid rumours linking him with a move away – with Bayern Munich also said to be interest – and made it perfectly clear he’s staying where he is.

“You can definitely assume that I will also be the coach of VfB Stuttgart next year,” Hoeness said as reported on Bavarian Football Works.

“If I had the idea of moving, then I certainly wouldn’t have extended my contract. I’m here out of conviction because I have the feeling that we can develop something together here. Nothing has changed from my perspective.”

So there you have it West Ham fans. One that can be put to bed nice and early.

It’s a shame, as the video below shows he could have been a sensational appointment.

But West Ham’s search continues. On to the next.
