Arsenal fans have now made their feelings clear to Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher after his latest title race comments.
Arsenal supporters will have been delighted to see Liverpool fall to a 2-0 defeat against Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday evening.
This result mean that the Reds were unable to pull level with the Gunners on points at the top of the Premier League table.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has now admitted that Arsenal and Manchester City will both need to suffer a “crisis” in order for his side to stand any chance of being crowned champions.
Mikel Arteta will know exactly how the German coach feels, having seen his own side stumble during the run-in last season.
There is still a tough task facing the North London club if they are to take this title race down to the wire, though. They will almost certainly need to win all four of their remaining fixtures, starting with Sunday’s North London derby clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Jamie Carragher downplays Liverpool failure amid title race with Arsenal and Man City
In the meantime, Jamie Carragher has sought to downplay the scale of the Reds’ failure at Goodison Park. Speaking on Sky Sports, the former centre-back said “in some ways, I think they’ve actually over-achieved, this team…even though I’m gutted they’ve lost tonight, it looks like the title’s gone, I’m finding it hard to be too critical because I think with the team and the quality of players that they’ve got, they’ve actually over-performed.”
These sentiments present themselves in stark contrast to comments the pundit made towards the end of last season, when Arsenal themselves stumbled during the run-in and saw their title challenge fall away.
Like Liverpool this time around, Arsenal were not expected to challenge for the title last season. Arteta’s side came out of nowhere to emerge as contenders, and arguably hugely over-performed in that regard.
However, when the Gunners faltered last season, Carragher stated, “they got complacent, they got cocky,” as quoted by Sky Sports.

Arsenal fans have not forgotten these comments and have now taken aim at Carragher over his arguably hypocritical defence of Liverpool.
One supporter said “Just incredible how this courtesy was never given to Arsenal last season when the whole country had us finishing 5th. Neville and Carragher were doing hit pieces and talking about how we’re never getting this opportunity again, amazing how they love putting a ceiling on us.”
Another claimed “He’s such a hypocrite.”
One fan stated “The bias and double standards from a [Carragher] is frightening. Getting more embarrassing every week.” Another chipped in with “He’s excruciatingly biased it’s unreal.”
