Feyenoord's Slot: 'I'd like to become new Liverpool manager'

Feyenoord coach Arne Slot has publicly stated that he would like to become Liverpool boss after the Reds approached the Dutch side about a move.

German Jürgen Klopp is leaving the Premier League side at the end of the season to recharge his batteries and Slot has become the top candidate after media reports said Liverpool's interest in Sporting Lisbon's Ruben Amorim had cooled.

Speaking ahead of Feyenoord's match against Go Ahead Eagles on Thursday, the 45-year-old told ESPN: "I’d like to become new Liverpool manager, my decisions is clear. Feyenoord and Liverpool are in talks to negotiate, I’m waiting to see what will come out of it. I am confident, waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement."

Slot still has a two-year contract with Feyenoord. A fee of €10 million ($10.7 million) is being discussed, according to media reports.

Slot took Feyenoord to the Conference League final in his first season before he led the club to the Dutch championship last term. Last Sunday, the Rotterdam club also won the Dutch Cup under Slot.
