A crash victim was left with a huge hole in his side resembling a “shark bite,” but his life was changed forever. Donnie headed to the Botched clinic, hoping Dr. Paul Nassif and Dr. Terry Dubrow could help.
The Botched star’s left side had completely caved in after a horrific car accident, which he claims looks like a big shark had come and taken a bite out of him. His sister warned the hole was “getting worse.”
Botched star’s ‘shark bite’ hole
Donnie had suffered with a giant hole in his left side for eight years after a car accident. The 27-year-old claimed his side was becoming painful, and had previously always been shirtless as a kid.
He no longer wanted to be seen public without a shirt on. Donnie’s car crashed, when he “overcorrected” and “noticed his car going off the road,” which then barrel-rolled.
Donnie doesn’t remember much of the accident, and isn’t even aware of exactly what caused the damage. “When I looked down, there was so much glass and debris stuck in my side,” he recalls.
He underwent two surgeries
Donnie had two emergency surgeries after the accident, and was in hospital for two weeks. Although doctors done all they could to save him, he was left with a huge hole resembling a shark bite.
He was told the gaping hole is “how it was going to be for the rest of his life,” but Donnie found it “hard to believe they could leave somebody like that.” The E! Entertainment star then found it hard in the dating scene.
Having lost confidence, Donnie was “just broken” and feared he’d never get a girlfriend or feel confident to have his shirt off again. Luckily though, he was able to undergo surgery on Botched.
He didn’t expect perfection, but Dr Terry Dubrow’s surgery work made it into his co-star Dr. Paul Nassif’s top two surgeries on the show. As a result, Donnie was able to “go back to being him again”.
Where Donnie is after surgery
Donnie no longer has a hole in his side and has started dating again. He said it “just feels amazing” to have his top off, adding it’s “hard for him to believe where he was at before” surgery.
His mom said they “have their son back” while his sister is “still in shock”. He is now on the beach, shirtless, throwing a football, with no shark story in sight.
