Rangers confirm dialogue with summer Ibrox targets in exciting fresh transfer update

Rangers are gearing up for a summer of transfer change no matter what happens this season.

The Ibrox side are still on the hunt for a legendary treble with Philippe Clement’s team already lifting the League Cup in December.

With three points in it in the Scottish Premiership, and an Old Firm Scottish Cup Final 22 years in the making on the horizon, it’s going to be quite the end to the season.

But despite the potential success of this campaign, substantial upheaval is on the horizon with as many as six Rangers first-team stars out of contract.

In that number are some of he club’s most experienced players like Ryan Jack, Borna Barisic, and Kemar Roofe.

With all that in mind, Rangers are on the hunt for new talent heading into the summer with one Ibrox director claiming that discussions are already well underway.

Creag Robertson confirms Rangers transfer plans

Speaking as part of the latest Ibrox CEO fans’ forum, Rangers Director of Football Operations Creag Robertson has been talking about the club’s summer transfer plans.

The ex-Falkirk staffer is on the newly established Rangers recruitment board alongside several key players in the club’s hierarchy.

Claiming that the man who heads that board – Belgian Director of Recruitment Nils Koppen – has shaken up the club’s processes, Rangers are set to reap the rewards in the summer.

With one on that window, in an exciting update Robertson claims that discussions are already well under way over several summer transfers.

“In terms of player recruitment, we are active in the market right now,” Robertson said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

“Key areas of focus for the Football Board are succession planning, player contracts and player recruitment.

“There are conversations on recruitment every day.

“When Nils came in, he reviewed the department and changed the structure and process, so we are in a strong place as we build towards the summer.

“A number of good conversations with active targets are underway. I cannot give any more detail right now.

“Ideally we would like to bring in players early, for the start of pre-season, although the Euros might slow the market slightly.

“Our intention is to be on the front foot and bring players in as early as we can, but we will need to remain agile to the market dynamics.”

Fabio Silva amongst those to leave?

All this points to a flurry of early activity at Rangers as Philippe Clement looks to build on his early success at Ibrox.

The report also suggests that several players in the club’s squad – including Wolves loanee Fabio Silva – are unlikely to stick around next season.

Whilst frustrated Rangers fans have been calling for a complete overhaul in the wake of a recent Premiership collapse, we reckon it’s a tad short-sighted.

Changes are certainly coming but Rangers will need a semblance of consistency as a number of new faces are bedded into the squad.

For the moment it remans unclear who those faces might be, but it’s clear Rangers have targets and are already working to bring them closer to Ibrox.
