'They deserve to': Marc Albrighton shares who he thinks will get promoted... Leeds United or Ipswich Town

Leicester City winger Marc Albrighton has given his prediction on who will secure the second automatic promotion spot from Leeds United and Ipswich Town.

Though the Foxes are not mathematically there yet, Tuesday night’s 5-0 win over Southampton means they now have promotion and the title all but wrapped up. Just one win from their remaining two matches is needed.

And with Southampton now out of the race, it is solely between Leeds and Ipswich for that final top two position as the season approaches its final eight days.

Leeds are currently the side who occupy that all important second place, but are just a point clear of Ipswich, who also have a game in hand.

Daniel Farke’s side are in action first this weekend, as they make the trip to Queens Park Rangers tonight. Though the tight turnaround from Monday has been branded ‘disgusting’, it could actually be advantageous.

Another three points for Leeds would move them four clear of Ipswich and would really pile the pressure on ahead of back-to-back away games at Hull and Coventry City. Only two wins would put it back in their hands ahead of the final day.

Albrighton predicts who will be promoted… Leeds or Ipswich

At this stage, it still remains impossible to call but it will certainly become more clear at the end of this weekend after both sides have played.

Nothing other than a win would do for Leeds tonight given Ipswich have two games in hand and a relatively kind final day fixture at home to Huddersfield Town.

Leicester’s Albrighton was on talkSPORT on Thursday speaking about the race for automatic promotion, where he was asked who he thinks will be joining them.

He actually believes it will be Ipswich who get the job done due to the ‘never say die attitude’ that has been on display multiple times over the course of the season.

He said: “Ipswich, I genuinely believes Ipswich and they deserve to as well. They have been fantastic, some of the late goals they have scored, their never say die attitude has been incredible and I just see them getting over the line as well.”

Leeds vs Ipswich remaining fixtures compared

It is now very much a time in the season where you can’t help but watch on and hope rivals are dropping points.

Leeds kick off the final week of the campaign with a trip to QPR tonight with Junior Firpo knowing a win would pile the pressure on Ipswich ahead of their matches.

The Tractor Boys then play twice before the final day at both Hull and Coventry, which on paper, does look like two extremely tough away games.

However, if Ipswich were to have any sort of advantage heading into the final day, they would be massive favourites. Kieran McKenna’s side host a Huddersfield side who could already be relegated, while Leeds face Southampton at Elland Road.
