Tottenham reportedly want to sign £60m attacker who Les Ferdinand described as 'one of the best' he's ever seen

Tottenham Hotspur are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window as Ange Postecoglou looks to bolster his squad further.

Spurs were busy in both the last summer window and the January market, one of the few Premier League sides to be particularly active in the latter.

Tottenham were dark horses for the title at one point, and remain in contention for a Champions League spot, showing how much progress they’ve made since last season.

Plenty of players have been linked with a move to Spurs over the past few months, and there has been an update on a Premier League-based forward said to be on Postecoglou’s radar.

The player in question is Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, one of the most highly sought-after talents in the English top flight at present.

The Independent reported in February that Tottenham have made the Eagles star one of their top targets as they look to sign another wide forward.

Now, BBC Sport has reported how much Palace want for Eze and Michael Olise, another players who has been making waves for the south Londoners.

The report claims that Palace will start negotiations for Eze and Olise at £60million apiece. And while they don’t want to lose either player, they’re expecting suitors to come forward nonetheless.

Eze and Olise both have long-term contracts at Selhurst Park, and the Eagles aren’t in a position where they need to cash in on either asset, added the report.

What has been said about Tottenham Hotspur target Eberechi Eze?

Although Tottenham – and other suitors – will have a real job on their hands trying to get Eze, they’d be getting a Premier League-proven star.

Plenty of football figures have been singing the 25-year-old’s praises, including Son Heung-min, Alan Shearer, Tim Sherwood, Paul Merson, Martin Keown and Rio Ferdinand.

Former Spurs forward Les Ferdinand, who worked with Eze at Queens Park Rangers, also sung the player’s praises back in 2020.

Speaking on The Beautiful Game Podcast, he said: “If you look at his footballing ability I could put him down as one of the best I have seen in terms of what I have been fortunate to play with in my career.

“When I see some of the things he does on a football and how comfortable he is on a football, I put him up there as one of the best I have seen.

“Whether he fulfils his potential to be one of the best I have worked with time will tell but in terms of his ability with the ball certainly he is one of the best I have seen.”
