Taylor Swift's ex has just four words to say over new 'diss tracks about him'

Taylor Swift’s ex, Matty Healy, has offered a response after being asked about ‘diss tracks’ on her new album, The Tortured Poets Department.

The release of an album rarely feels like an event anymore, but that level of anticipation is reserved for Taylor Swift like no other in the industry. Essentially the most famous woman on the planet right now, so much has already been said about her eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department. Since it dropped earlier this month, Swifties have been arguing over which songs are about The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, whom she briefly dated last year. With so much of the discourse surrounding the album being about him, fans have been eager to hear what he has to say…

Matty Healy gives snappy response to Taylor Swift ‘diss track’

Taylor and Matty briefly dated for a few months in 2023 after her break-up with long-time partner and English actor Joe Alwyn.

Of course, you’ll know that the pair separated, and she’s now with American footballer Travis Kelce. All the same, fans are adamant that a range of the songs on The Tortured Poets Department are about Matty and their relationship.

The song The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived, on the other hand, is the track that Swifties feel most certainly is about the 35-year-old English musician.

“How would you rate your Taylor diss track compared to the 30 others?” paparazzi asked Matty when he was walking down the street recently.

“My diss track?” Matty asked them. When told he was referring to the new Taylor material, he responded: “Oh, I haven’t really listened to that much of it [The Tortured Poets Department], but I’m sure it’s good.”

“I’m sure it’s good…” In those four words, you have his verdict, folks.

Lyrics on the song include: “You didn’t measure up in any measure of a man,” and “I don’t even want you back, I just want to know / If rusting my sparkling summer was the goal / And I don’t miss what we had, but could someone give / A message to the smallest man who ever lived.”

Fans are divided by Matty Healy’s response

The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived is simply the tip of the iceberg in fans’ speculation, as lots of listeners believe songs such as Fortnight (feat. Post Malone), Down Bad, But Daddy I Love Him, Fresh Out The Slammer, and even the titular track are about Matty.

The clip of Matty’s response to the “diss track” was shared on TikTok by Entertainment Tonight, and the reactions from listeners have been divided in different ways.

“That’s actually a perfect response,” somebody commented, another arguing, “He’s so real.”

“He’s Matty, the sweetest tattooed golden retriever ever,” one fan reacted, referencing lyrics from the song The Tortured Poets Department.

Others don’t believe he hasn’t heard the entire album. “You know he was up at 2 am with all of us,” one suggested. Another similarly commented, “He’s definitely heard every single song.”

On the whole, reactions have been quite pleased, saying he “handled it with pure class” or gave “the sweetest response ever.”
