Threads, Meta's latest platform, has seen its daily active users increase slowly but surely since its launch in July 2023. In fact, the social network now boasts more daily active users than Elon Musk's X platform, millions more.

In just a few months, Threads has managed to overtake X, the social network formerly known as Twitter that was renamed after Elon Musk took it over. According to the latest data collected by Apptopia in April 2024, the Meta group's platform boasts an average of 28 million daily active users. On X, some 22 million users opened the app at least once a day over the same period, a 21% lower usage rate than Threads, Business Insider points out.

While the gap isn't really that large, there's a trend of greater growth shown for Threads. Since December 2023, the social network has seen a 55% increase in daily active users. At that time, it counted approximately 18 million DAUs (Daily Active Users). The statistics for X indicate that platform counted 17 million daily active users in the same period.

According to Sensor Tower data, the number of daily active users on X has fallen by 19% worldwide compared to October 2022, ie, since Elon Musk bought the platform. Compared with the first quarter of 2023, this number has fallen by 14%.

Yet the social media once associated with the little blue bird is holding its own, thanks to its monthly users. According to Apptopia, X has around 140 million monthly active users in the US alone, compared with around 100 million on Threads; according to Mark Zuckerberg Threads' monthly active users now total over 150 million.
