'He's been outstanding': Ange Postecoglou says £22m Spurs player is ready to explode v Arsenal tomorrow

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to face Arsenal in one of the most important North London derbies in years.

Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs will ‘welcome’ Mikel Arteta’s Gunners to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, with so much at stake.

Should Tottenham triumph at N17, they’ll boost their chances of finishing in the Premier League’s top four and deal a critical blow to Arsenal’s title hopes.

However, if the Gunners win, they’ll be able to keep the pressure on Manchester City, which is no mean feat considering how much momentum they now have.

Tottenham captain Son Heung-min boasts a pretty good record against Arsenal, so it goes without saying that Spurs will hope he’s firing on all cylinders on Sunday.

Over the years, Son has scored seven goals and registered two assists in 19 games against the Gunners.

Postecoglou, speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, sung the £22million man’s praises.

What has Ange Postecoglou said about Tottenham captain Son Heung-min?

When asked about how important Son has been in derbies, the Spurs boss told football.london: “Yeah look, vital because he has got the experience and at least two or three of our guys this will be their first experience of a home north London derby.

“You always lean on the guys who have been there, done that and excelled it that. Sonny has definitely done that.

“He has been a big-game player for this football club for a long time and he’s looking forward to it with the added responsibility this time as the captain.

“He’s been outstanding for us all year and I know he is looking forward to the game.

“To be fair the whole playing group is looking forward to the game. They’re looking forward to any game at the moment because we’ve just been training for two weeks.

“Looking forward to seeing how it goes on Sunday.”

Son has been a star for Tottenham over the past decade, so it’ll be exciting to see how he fares in one of the most important games the club has played in a while.
