Rangers have a salvage mission upon them because at this moment in time, the Scottish Premiership title is staying with Celtic.
Philippe Clement wholly understands that five wins from five are needed from the remaining league games, as well as pinning his hopes on the Hoops slipping up at some point.
The defeat to Ross County and the demoralising draw at Dundee were devastating for Rangers. But they need to be as professional as possible and not to give up hope when it’s not quite over yet.
As for picking the team for Sunday’s trip to St Mirren, Clement is likely to make a couple of enforced changes. Otherwise, it should be same selection from the victory over Hearts in the Scottish Cup.
Leon Balogun gets nod over Goldson again
Nigerian centre-back Leon Balogun slotted in beside John Souttar seamlessly last Sunday and put in a very sold performance.
Goldson had to watch from the Hampden stands after a couple of nightmare showings for Gers and there’s no reason for Clement to reintroduce the Englishman.
So the only two changes should involve Abdallah Sima and Rabbi Matondo. The Senegalese and Welsh wingers are both injured, although Matondo has been branded a doubt.
But it’s expected Fabio Silva and Ross McCausland will both come in for the latter two and get a chance to impress their boss.
So with all that said, here is our Rangers predicted XI for the short trip west to Stephen Robinson’s fifth-placed St Mirren.
