Liverpool star ‘will be fuming’ with Jurgen Klopp as players react to Arne Slot

A round-up of the latest Liverpool news as Peter Crouch tips a player to be ‘fuming’ with Jurgen Klopp as the Reds identify four transfer targets for Arne Slot to rule on.

Liverpool’s players are ‘delighted’ Arne Slot is replacing Jurgen Klopp

The Liverpool first-team are ‘delighted’ that Feyenoord manager Arne Slot is due to replace Jurgen Klopp this summer. That is according to the Daily Mail’s Lewis Steele, who claims that sources close to the Anfield dressing room are excited the 45-year-old is the club’s choice.

A verbal agreement is now in place for Slot to take charge after Klopp steps down at the end of this season. The Reds have spent the past three months striving to find the right manager for the hot seat. Now, Liverpool feel Slot is the ideal fit to usher in a new era on Merseyside.

Slot has just won the KNVB Beker with Feyenoord earlier this month for his second trophy as a head coach. He also led Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title last term and can mathematically still win it again this season. But PSV Eindhoven hold a nine-point lead with three games left.

Liverpool want Arne Slot to sign off on four midfield transfer targets

Journalist Graeme Bailey has exclusively told Rousing The Kop that Liverpool may target four midfielders if Arne Slot agrees to replace Jurgen Klopp. The Feyenoord coach is on course to take over at Anfield this summer. Liverpool will also let Slot have a say in their transfer goals.

Liverpool are already looking at midfielders playing all across Europe to improve their squad next season. But Reds chiefs also want to hear if Slot agrees that Khephren Thuram, Quinten Timber or Mats Wieffer would be worth Liverpool targeting when the transfer market starts.

Slot knows precisely what Timber and Wieffer would add as the 22-year-old and 24-year-old are both essential cogs of his side at Feyenoord. But Liverpool also admire what Thuram has shown with OGC Nice. The Reds have also ‘always liked’ SL Benfica wonderkid, Joao Neves.

Peter Crouch thinks Mohamed Salah will be ‘fuming’ with Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool hero Peter Crouch thinks Mohamed Salah will be ‘fuming’ with Jurgen Klopp after only starting on the bench at West Ham United. Klopp dropped the 31-year-old from the XI at London Stadium following his latest frustrating display in their Merseyside derby defeat.

Salah struggled to shine against Everton and spent much of the match on the periphery at Goodison Park. So, after dropping Salah as Liverpool lost 2-0 to Crystal Palace, Klopp opted to axe the attacker again. He would also only play the Egyptian during the final 11 minutes.

Klopp only naming Salah on Liverpool’s bench at West Ham left the forward visibly annoyed before kick-off, Jan Aage Fjortoft claimed. But while Crouch admits he would have also been annoyed by it, it was not a ‘good look’ for Liverpool to have their talisman throwing a strop.

“It didn’t look good,” Crouch said on TNT Sports after the game. “I mean, listen, I can’t lip-read, I can’t say what exactly they are saying, but it didn’t look good. I don’t think it looks good for the club.

“Salah is a player who has started the majority of games for Liverpool. He will be fuming. I have been in that position. I would be fuming to be on the bench. I think players like that who expect to start are never happy. But no one expects to see this on the sidelines.”
