Everton were so good against Brentford, as they went about earning a routine yet crucial win with minimal fuss.
It is truly remarkable just how solid Sean Dyche has got this team, turning them from a side leaking goals for fun into one of the best defences in the division.
A reunion with a few of his former Burnley players certainly aided that integration, but it has been a simply stunning turnaround, spearheaded by a few other key men.
Naturally, the Match of the Day pundits sought to praise just a couple of them, although realistically there have been too many newly-formed heroes to count in the last week.
Ian Wright praises two Everton players
Speaking on Match of the Day last night, the three pundits were full of praise for Everton, albeit it was short-lived.
After all, in their narrow but comfortable 1-0 win over Brentford, there was little to report.
No nasty challenges, no VAR controversy, and no goals that should not have stood. Just a solid defensive display from the hosts, limiting the Bees to few chances whilst taking one of the few they forged.
Having previously agreed on Jordan Pickford’s fine season, with Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker leading that adulation, it was Ian Wright who instead sought to note two other stars who have emerged just when they were needed.
The former Arsenal and Crystal Palace striker claimed: ‘Branthwaite coming in as well. Brilliant. Idrissa Gueye was brilliant today. He was brilliant in the derby as well. The players have stepped up when he (Sean Dyche) has needed them.’

Whilst Jarrad Branthwaite and Idrissa Gana Gueye have been particularly outstanding performers, they are not the only ones to have stood up.
After all, Dominic Calvert-Lewin certainly deserves his flowers for emerging when it mattered, scoring the crucial only goal of the game against Burnley before burying Liverpool in their 2-0 derby win.
Another to have starred of late is Dwight McNeil, whose energy levels and speed might just have reached an all-time high in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, James Garner deserves praise for his ever-energetic midfield displays, with Vitaliy Mykolenko impressing down his left flank before suffering an injury late in that aforementioned win over the Reds.
Dyche has so many of his stars to thank, but he above all deserves praise, for navigating a side once completely devoid of quality and confidence to safety with ease in the end.
