'That's all I'm seeing': Gary Neville claims Mo Salah is doing exactly what £22m Tottenham player did in 2023

Liverpool dropped more points this weekend and Gary Neville has suggested it’s time for a break for one of their players.

The Reds have had a nightmare few weeks which has seen them out of Europe and essentially out of the title race as well.

After initially challenging on all four fronts, they’re now going to end the season with just the League Cup to show for Jurgen Klopp’s final season.

Key to Liverpool’s form dipping has been the lack of goals in recent weeks. Chances have been aplenty but Liverpool, for whatever reason, have stopped taking them.

The likes of Darwin Nunez, Mo Salah, and Luis Diaz have all been guilty of dropping the ball a bit.

And speaking about Salah in particular, Gary Neville has suggested that the situation with Salah reminds him of Heung-Min Son at Tottenham a few seasons back.

Gary Neville shares Mo Salah verdict after another Liverpool blank

Speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast, the Sky Sports pundit explained his feelings over Salah.

“Mo Salah has just hit a brick wall, and again, have got to be careful here. There is a player out here called Son that I think hit a brick wall about 18 months ago, was it, or so where he looked like he was gone, he was struggling. These players play so much football, they play so consistently. Salah has been almost ever-present for, like, six, seven years, it feels like,” Neville said.

“There just comes a point whereby they just need a break. That’s all I am seeing. It is too quick to say this is the end of Mo Salah because I think we have done that before. He just looks like he has just run marathon after marathon after marathon after marathon in every season, and it has got to a point where mentality and physical it has got to a point where he probably thinks, ‘It hit me’, and you don’t even know it sometimes. The season end is around the corner, he will get a break and he needs that break.”

Salah is set to be the subject of intense speculation again this summer as the Saudi clubs hover.

His bust up with Jurgen Klopp has done little to help either, with the scenes at West Ham yesterday not a good look for all involved.

Neville is probably right here when it comes to Salah. After so many years of brilliance, it’s probably just a bit of his body telling him to slow down.

Whether he’ll get that time to slow down, recuperate, and go again for another season, remains to be seen in the summer.

The note of £22m Tottenham man Son is an interesting one as well. We have seen this before, so Salah could well come again.
