‘I was at Fulham and’... Alan Pardew shares ‘terrific’ verdict on Glasner after Crystal Palace draw

Crystal Palace earned a hard-fought point against Fulham on Saturday afternoon, seeing one former Palace boss praise the work of Oliver Glasner.

It was another promising result for Crystal Palace on Saturday, as the Eagles extended their unbeaten run in the Premier League to four games.

Oliver Glasner watched on as his side pushed to earn a point against Fulham at Craven Cottage, as Jeffrey Schlupp scored a sensational strike in the 87th minute to level the scoring.

Unlike the Palace that was seen earlier in the season, heads didn’t drop when the South Londoners went behind just after the start of the second half, seeing the visitors instead, up the intensity.

The Eagles earned a point in a spectacular fashion thanks to Schlupp to continue their current run of impressive form, seeing Glasner earn high praise from a man who knows the challenges of managing Palace.

Alan Pardew praises Oliver Glasner after Crystal Palace draw against Fulham

Speaking on talkSPORT yesterday in reaction to the North London Derby that saw Arsenal beat Spurs 3-2, former Palace boss Alan Pardew had some words to say on Glasner’s tactical set-up against Fulham.

Pardew was discussing the tactical struggles that Ange Postecoglou faced against the Gunners, leading him to give a shout to how ‘terrifically’ the Palace boss’ style of play worked against Fulham in comparison.

“I was at Fulham and the new manager at Crystal Palace has come in and he’s playing a very very aggressive game, high line, 3-4-3, pressing the ball and it worked terrifically yesterday, it worked terrific.”

Glasner’s side never looked in doubt of getting a result against the Cottagers despite going behind, which is a testament to the manager’s tactics, which have transformed Palace since his arrival in February.

Oliver Glasner has been patient in imposing himself at Crystal Palace

The Austrian was aware of the challenge he was taking on when replacing Roy Hodgson, as Palace had endured a highly lacklustre campaign across the entirety of the 2023/24 calendar.

It wasn’t until matchday 32 that the Eagles secured back-to-back wins in the Premier League for the first time this season, telling of the struggles that the club have faced throughout the term.

From raising individual performance to unleashing a positive formation that suits the strengths of his squad, early signs are suggesting that Steve Parish and co made the right decision in hiring the Europa League winner.

Now, it looks as though the dust is settling at Selhurst Park under Glasner, with a strong end to the campaign reinforcing the improvements the Austrian has already made at Palace.
