Liverpool could be exploring a move for a £51m rated midfielder who thrived under Arne Slot in the past.
There are going to be a few changes made at Liverpool this summer. With a new manager coming in, and new coaching staff, it’s only natural.
On top of that, this will also be the first window, with Michael Edwards back at the helm and Liverpool’s new sporting director, Richard Hughes.
Together, they will look to orchestrate another successful window for the Reds with a few new arrivals and a few departures as well.
Liverpool taking information on Teun Koopmeiners
With Slot expected to be named as head-coach not as manager of Liverpool, it’s looking even more unlikely that he would bring players from Feyenoord with him to Anfield.
Edwards and Hughes will be in charge of the recruitment. However, that does not mean that the club cannot reunite Slot with a former protege.
Teun Koopmeiners has been on Liverpool’s radar for quite some time. And he was someone who absolutely flourished under Slot back at AZ Alkmaar, scoring 21 goals and registering seven assists in 58 matches.
Now according to Italian outlet Sport Mediaset Liverpool have taken information on the midfielder, and are potentially exploring a move for the midfielder this summer. The report claims, Koopmeiners would cost around 60 million Euros, which is roughly £51m.
Does Koopmeiners signing make sense for Liverpool?
On paper, Koopmeiners is a brilliant and technically gifted player. Since leaving AZ Alkmaar, he’s taken Serie A by storm.
He’s also recently caught the eye for Atalanta against Liverpool in the Europa League. However, at this moment in time, there isn’t necessarily room for a player of Koopmeiners ilk in the squad.
Liverpool already have a lot of number eights and attacking midfielders of similar profile to Koopmeiners. What they need is a holding midfielder who covers a lot of ground and breaks up attacks.
