Report: The real reason why Kieran Trippier has just gone to Dubai

The curious case of Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier is suddenly a bit less curious.

The 33-year-old is currently out of action due to a calf injury, and has missed Newcastle United‘s last eight games.

It has been a rather lengthy absence for Kieran Trippier, as it was initially expected that he would only miss two games after limping out of the 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

But it has turned out to be a lengthier absence for the right-back, who was at St James’ Park on Saturday to see his teammates win 5-1 against Sheffield United. He even exchanged words in the tunnel with Callum Wilson after the game, while he also got a bit of stick for his outfit.

Kieran Trippier hoping to avoid another injury setback

Trippier spoke ahead of that game, stating in the pre-match programme that extra precautions were being taken to ensure he did not suffer another injury so late in the season.

It is an important final few games for the Magpies, while Trippier will also have aspirations of being involved in the England squad that goes to Germany for Euro 2024.

He is in a race against time to be fit, and Eddie Howe’s first Toon signing had fans asking even more questions when he was spotted travelling to Dubai on Monday.

Why Trippier has travelled to Dubai

However, the reason for his trip has now been revealed by the Daily Mail.

They report that Trippier was heading to Dubai to work with a physio and fitness coach as he continues to work towards full fitness.

The warm weather will probably aid his recovery, while the hope is that it will not be long before he is back in action once again.

When Newcastle expect Trippier to be available

The Daily Mail add that while Trippier will not be involved against his former club Burnley on Saturday, the hope is that he will be fit in time for the final home game of the season against Brighton.

We face the Seagulls at St James’ Park on May 11th, before we end the season with away trips to Manchester United and Brentford.

The club are hoping to have Trippier fit for the final three games of the season, and they will be massively crucial as Howe’s side continue their quest to qualify for Europe.

Having Trippier back for those games will be a big boost, and his quality and experience will be vital in us getting over the line and hopefully making it into the Europa or Europa Conference League.
